Shrink wrapping is becoming the new standard for shipping expensive goods and equipment. Covering an item with shrink wrap is a cost-effective way to protect against the damaging elements of weather, dust and debris when shipping or storing valuable goods. Shrink wrapping is often times preferable to crating items, whether it is because the item is very large or unusually shaped, and therefore crates add too much weight, or because the nature of the item makes a crate difficult and cumbersome to work with.
Atlantic Shrink Wrap provides top quality shrink wrap services to protect items such as boats, commercial equipment, industrial products and materials, as well as military equipment. Delicate machinery and equipment on board helicopters, boats, and tanks, can become damaged and in need of extensive and expensive repair if they are left exposed to dust, sand, or water. Shrink wrapping allows the items to be more quickly returned to service after transport or storage.
Shrink wrapping can also be utilized to cover historic buildings during restoration work, and to protect homes undergoing construction due to remodeling work or rebuilding after fire or storm damage. In such instances the areas which are vulnerable to damage by the elements are covered, but entry and access points can remain open.
Beyond acting as a mere cover for the item, specialty shrink wraps serve to actively protect the item from particular threats. Atlantic Shrink Wrap offers corrosive inhibiting shrink wrap to provide an extra measure of protection that is especially recommended for delicate machinery. For items which are entering long term storage or will be exposed to the outdoors, the life span of the shrink wrap can be extended through the use of UV inhibitors and preservation tape.
If possible exposure to heat or flame is a concern, such as a project where a wrapped item will be in close proximity to welding or steam fitting, flame retardant shrink wrap should be used. Flame retardant shrink wrap is also preferable for remodeling projects where codes require fire resistency.
Atlantic Shrink Wrap offers top notch quality work for their clients, and takes on projects for worldwide shipment whether large or small. Atlantic Shrink Wrap takes pride in helping clients protect their investments.

Storage of any item requires special care to ensure protection from the elements. Coming out of storage always means adjustments, extra maintenance and possibly repairs, but these costs can be reduced with the best storage techniques. UV radiation, humidity and temperature changes, and even the storage materials themselves can all cause varying degrees of damage. Heavy equipment and materials, from trailers and helicopters to construction beams and boats, are no different, requiring the same degree of attention to storage.
Choosing the Right Storage for Long Term Protection
Whether the equipment is simply being stored on site or faces a future of shipping and modifications, the leading material for long term protection is shrink wrap. The term, shrink wrap, makes most people think of the thin plastic coating over software boxes and Easter baskets, though generally the term refers to any application where plastic is heated to conform to a surface. In the hands of a skilled professional, even the largest items can be covered with a protective film suitable to the task.
What are the Advantages of Shrink Wrap?
In long term storage applications, shrink wrap out-competes other materials in several ways. As well as being fitted to each object, so there is no need to waste time building crates or tying down tarps, shrink wrapping can be done with many types of plastic to offer different kinds of protection suitable to the situation. Anti-microbial plastics, flame retardants, and corrosion inhibition are all possible with plastics. Long term storage can be accomplished outside with UV resistant plastic, and there is no worry of shrink wrap damaging even delicate paint jobs.
Of course, these benefits all rely on the expertise of shrink wrap professionals. The application of heat to plastic is a delicate process, and proper training is required to prevent the plastic from tearing in high winds or falling apart from exposure to changing temperatures. Plastic sheathing is versatile and capable of withstanding the elements in the right hands. Choose a professional team of shrink wrap experts for the peace of mind that comes from knowing your investments are protected.

Winter is quickly approaching which means the harshest elements of the year will occur. With the cold comes snow and sleet which can easily damage unprotected boats. Boat owners know the importance of protecting their boats during winter months so they do not have added maintenance to perform before heading out on the water come the warmer spring months of next year.
Shrink wrapping is one of the most effective ways to protect a boat that is in dry dock for the winter. Shrink wrapping seals out potentially harmful salt, which can cause corrosion of the body of the boat. It also seals out the damaging effects of sleet and hail which can leave scratches and holes on the body of the boat. Repairs on a boat can cost thousands of dollars. Shrink wrapping prevents that damage.
Along with the body of the boat, shrink wrapping helps keep the boat motor from becoming damaged and eroded. Motors are particularly vulnerable to harsh weather conditions. Shrink wrapping the boat keeps the entire boat from becoming weather worn and in need of eventual replacement.
Shrink wrap is flame retardant keeping the boat safe from fire. It also prevents mold and mildew from forming on the boat. Mold and mildew is difficult to remove. It also easily spreads. Shrink wrap seals the boat tight to keep the boat in the best shape possible during winter storage. The best feeling in the world for boat owners is to uncover the boat at the end of a long winter to find the boat in the same condition as when it was first stored. Shrink wrap makes that ideal possible.
It is utterly important that boat owners shrink wrap their boats in order to keep it in tip top shape throughout the winter. Shrink wrapping is an air tight procedure that covers the entire boat, no matter how large or how small. The cost of shrink wrapping as compared to the cost of repairing a damaged boat makes the decision to shrink wrap easy.

“In 2011, Canada entered into an agreement with the United States to acquire a number of helicopters and related parts for use in Canada. In turn, IMP Aerospace was directed to proceed with the acquisition on behalf of Canada. The decision was made to transport the helicopters by surface means which necessitated that the aircraft be protected from the elements as they made their move north. Atlantic Shrink Wrap was selected to provide this support. Each of the helicopters was carefully shrink wrapped and included the incorporation of special water proof access openings to allow other maintenance activity to occur on the aircraft as it proceeded through the move by barge, roll on/roll off ship and transport trailers. IMP Aerospace has previous experience in dealing with companies for the provision of shrink wrap for various components and airframes. In comparison to these other jobs, the wrap provided by Atlantic Shrink Wrap is in a superior class by itself. Several personnel within IMP that have observed the shrink wrap job on these helicopters and have come away with a great appreciation of Atlantic Shrink Wrap’s capability. I would strongly recommend Atlantic Shrink Wrap to any future customer.”

Late summer has kept Atlantic Shrink Wrap busy on multiple projects including the shrink wrapping of several different aviation projects.
ASI has been a familiar presence at the Patuxant River Naval Air station where a number of helicopters need to be shrink wrapped for transport. The first, a group of five helicopters were wrapped and stored awaiting transport by barge and then by ship to Canada. They arrived after a long sea journey in great shape, Atlantic is now being considered to travel up to Nova Scotia, Canada to wrap a large fixed wing aircraft for outside storage. The experiences working within the aviation community are incredible. And our work speaks for itself.

The second aviation project was also at Pax River where we were trusted to shrink wrap the airframe of a MH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter for transport to Europe. This project had its own rarities as it was not a smooth flight ready aircraft. We had to do a lot of prep and padding work on this one to make it right. In the end Atlantic Shrink Wrap completed the project ahead of schedule and the aircraft was on its way.

Shrink wrapping your boat is very important as the boating season comes to an end and the winter season, when boats need to be put up in storage, approaches. The weather is the biggest enemy of any boat, as it can damage a boat in many ways if you are not careful, and can make it so that you have to spend the entire following season repairing the boat instead of using it. Boats that are not carefully stored and protected will be exposed to this weather, something that can cut down on the span of the boat’s life dramatically.
The goal of the shrink wrapping is to provide a plastic surface for all rain, snow, hail, and ice to come in contact with. These things, that can be so harmful to a wooden boat, will have no effect at all on the plastic wrapping. They will simply slide down to the ground, while the boat sits in storage with no damage at all. This saves times in repairs and getting the boat ready the next year, and also gives you a comforting peace of mind all winter long, as you can know that your boat is surviving the season intact.
Shrinking wrapping from Atlantic Shrink Wrapping INC can be used in storage or when you have to tow a boat along the highway, and in either case it will provide the best protection that can be found.

Shrink wrapping isn’t just for small items, it can be done with larger items such as boats. Ideal for transportation, shrink wrapping is also a great deal when preparing your boat for winter storage. Boats that are properly protected from the harsh winter elements will be in better condition when the next season rolls around. Here’s everything you need to know when deciding on a professional to shrink wrap your boat.
Marine shrink wrapping can only be done once the boat is out of the water and fully winterized. Once the wrapping is installed there will not be easy access, so make sure the water lines and piping are all properly taken care of ahead of time.
Support systems are vital to keep the shrink wrap tight throughout the season. The goal is to have water, snow and ice run right off the plastic and this support system will allow that to happen. The system also should be strong enough to withstand the bitter winter winds that will buffet your boat throughout the winter season.
Protection from the cold weather and harsh elements is completed by bringing the shrink wrapping down along the sides of the boat. The wrap should cover as much of the boat as possible to keep all joints, paint and systems in good working order.
Shrink wrap provides protection from the winter wind, biting rain and the damaging effects of sitting and melting snow. Perhaps the most damaging element that a shrink wrap offers protection from is the sun. UV rays can quickly make the fiberglass on your boat brittle, as well as damaging the leather. Shrink wrap protects your vessel from the sun as well as the weather.
Many people use tarps to protect their vessels in the wintertime. But tarps can also become brittle under the sun and if they are not properly installed the weight of rain and snow can undermine the effectiveness. Only shrink wraps provide a water-tight covering that will keep out the wind, snow, rain and rays from the sun. The interior will be protected as well as the exterior and even the paint job. Add years of life to your boat by making the investment in annual shrink wrapping.

As we collect and accumulate items storage can become a major issue; there is a right way and a wrong way to preserve those important items, tools and equipment.
Why is Storage Important?
Items that fall into infrequent use tend to age quickly. Because the items are rarely used it is easy for problems to slowly creep up unnoticed until it’s too late and the object either needs to be restored back to its original state or replaced; either way it’s a waste of resources. Pests are an obvious culprit in the destruction of material possessions; it can be very surprising to find that they’ve been nibbling and have made a nest in the engine of a lawnmower but it happens. Typically, rodent damage is very hard to counter.
Pests aside, moisture is another problem that can slowly eat away at and destroy investments of all kinds. Most people think that if there was moisture in the air, they would be able to feel it. That’s not always the case, especially in areas that typically experience high humidity as part of the weather. In storage areas with inadequate insulation and air ventilation, condensation and moisture will surely follow.
Proper Shrink Wrapping Freezes Items in Time
By providing an airtight seal around objects ranging from trailers to lawnmowers and every shape in between, shrink wrap is the preservation method of choice for anyone serious about protecting their investments. Industrial shrink wrap provides protection from all of the major sources of age and decay, meaning items big and small can be protected for long stretches of time with zero maintenance for the owner. An excellent choice for offsite storage situations where the owner doesn’t have immediate access to the items.
When choosing a shrink wrapping company, make sure to deal with the best. Improper shrink wrapping not only fails to block out air and moisture, it actually traps moisture and holds it in. This makes unprofessional shrink wrapping jobs more of a hindrance than a help.

In our modern world, purchasing a household product that has been packaged in plastic is commonplace. From our food to our cleaning supplies, we trust that the plastic containers are an effective and sanitary method of storing the valued products we buy.
Industrial shrink wrapping takes this process to a whole different level. Industrial shrink wrapping applies to larger objects that need protection during shipping, or from the elements in general. These objects can be anything; helicopters, motorboats, industrial equipment and even entire buildings.
The shrink wrap that is used is made of polythylene plastic. It is specially formulated to shrink when heat is applied. It is also flame retardant, which aides both in the shrink wrapping process as well as an added protection for the product being wrapped. The concept is simple enough. Wrap the object in plastic. Then, heat the plastic to cause it to shrink and mold around the object.
While it may seem impractical to wrap large objects, the benefits can be substantial. Take shrink wrapping the new construction site of a building, for example. While this can obviously be a large project, it will help protect the site from inclement weather, allowing workers to continue construction regardless of the elements. Also, the thick plastic aides in noise reduction, something that is definitely beneficial for an urban construction site. Shrink wrapping a boat can help prevent mildew growth, preserving your investment from corrosion. Shrink wrapping industrial equipment often allows the equipment to be stored in an unconditioned storage environment, which can create a savings in storage costs over time.
Installation of industrial shrink wrap can damage the wrapped object if done improperly. Certain amounts of water could be trapped in with the object, resulting in condensation and water damage. The plastic shrink wrap could constrict too much, damaging the object underneath. It is always best to contact a professional industrial wrapping company when considering shrink wrapping an object. They can help assess the object in question, the risks and benefits of wrapping, and perform professional grade installation of the shrink wrap.
